Nevada State Technical Committee Meeting on Nov. 29
RENO, Nov. 7 -- The Nevada State Technical Committee will meet on Nov. 29, 9
am to 3 pm, to discuss Farm Bill programs administered by the USDA Natural
Resources Conservation Service.
The NRCS is seeking input to establish priorities for identified local
resource concerns and targeting program funding to resolve resource management
problems. Program funding levels, fund pools, national conservation initiatives,
and proposed compensation rates for practices will also be discussed.
The meeting will be held by videoconference from the Nevada Farm Bureau
office, 2165 Green Vista, Suite 205, Sparks, NV 89431.

Public Comment Sought at Nevada State
Technical Committee Meeting on June 15, 2011
RENO, May 9, 2011 – The Nevada State Technical
Committee will meet on June 15 to discuss Farm Bill programs administered by the
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
“We have some critical issues to discuss and would
appreciate input from producers, partners and conservation groups,” said Bruce
Petersen, Nevada state conservationist for the NRCS.
Funding for energy-efficient irrigation systems,
converted agricultural land, invasive weed control, and conservation practices
installed on public land are among the topics to be discussed.
“We’d like to know if we’re spending Farm Bill money
in the right places and on the right practices,” said Petersen.
The meeting will be held by videoconference from the Nevada
Farm Bureau office, 2165 Green Vista Dr., #205, Sparks, NV 89431.

Bill Programs and Critical Watersheds to be Discussed
Reno, Nov. 3 — The Nevada State Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) will meet
Nov. 17, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, by compressed video in various locations
throughout Nevada.
The STAC will meet to review 2008 Farm Bill programs and policy. Topics to be
discussed include financial assistance and easement programs, including the
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Conservation Innovation Grants
(CIG) and Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP). Nevada resource
concerns, ranking criteria, payment schedules, and opportunities to provide
financial assistance on federal lands will also be discussed.
People interested in providing input for Nevada Farm Bill programs can
